Instructor: Henry T. Stein, Ph.D.

Dr. Stein is a Classical Adlerian psychotherapist, training analyst, Director of the Alfred Adler Institute of Northwestern Washington, and Co-Director of the Alfred Adler Institute of San Francisco. He studied with Sophia de Vries and Anthony Bruck, who were trained by Alfred Adler. For over thirty years, he has been training psychotherapists in an approach based on the original teachings and therapeutic style of Alfred Adler, as well as the clinical and philosophical writings of other Classical Adlerians. His own contributions to Classical Adlerian clinical practice include a comprehensive adaptation of the Socratic method and a thorough exposition of the twelve stages of psychotherapy. He is the editor of the The Collected Clinical Works of Alfred Adler; and the author of CADP: Volume I: Theory and Practice: A Socratic Approach to Democratice Living, and CADP: Volume II: Creative Case Analysis: Discovering the Fictional Final Goal and the Counter-Fiction That Hides It.

Accommodations:

The workshop will be held at the home of Laurie and Henry Stein in Bellingham, Washington, about a twenty-minute drive from the city center. For good, affordable accommodations, across the street from a major shopping complex and only a short walk to downtown Bellingham, we suggest staying at The Guest House International. You can check out their web site at http://www.guesthouseintl.com/hotels/bellingham/directions. The Guest House International is conveniently located about 15 minutes from Bellingham International Airport and about 20 minutes from our home. Bellingham RV Park is also conveniently located--check http://www.bellinghamrvpark.com or call (360) 752-1224. We can also suggest other hotels, if you'd prefer some options.

*** Please Note: August is a busy month for hotels, motels, and RV parks. They tend to get fully booked early in the year. We have reserved a block of rooms at a special discount rate for our group at Guest House International--details to follow via email. After receiving this email, reservations should be made as soon as possible by calling The Guest House International at (360)671-9600. They will hold this block of rooms for our group ("Adlerian Workshop") until July 24th.

Transportation and Meals:

Although you may request a free shuttle pick-up from The Guest House International, or hire a taxi, renting a car at the airport (or sharing a rental with another participant) gives the most flexibility. For Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, participants usually organize car pools to and from our home. However, for individual appointments on Thursday, you will need independent transportation, unless someone agrees to drive you each way. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as part of the tuition fee, we will provide lunch at our home. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know as soon as possible. For dinners, the group meets at various affordable restaurants, where individuals select and pay for their own meals. The group dinner on Thursday evening offers an opportunity for members to get acquainted and organize car pool plans. Anyone traveling with you is invited to join us for all dinners.

Visiting Bellingham, Washington:

Bellingham is a charming, coastal city of modest size, surrounded by abundant natural beauty, offering recreational opportunities and a variety of cultural events: music, drama, lectures, festivals, and fairs. The city has several excellent bookstores and is home to Western Washington University, a beautiful campus worth visiting. For a preview of Bellingham's features, visit www.Bellingham.org. We will be glad to offer sight-seeing tips for non-workshop days.

Continuing Education Credit:

For California MFT's and LCSW's, "Classical Adlerian Experiential Workshop" meets the qualifications for 18 hours of continuing education credit.
